anti beta gal antibody

Hi,
  can anyone offer any advice on the use of an anti beta galactosidase 
antibody to detect expression of a transfected mammalian cell with a pSV40 
plasmid containing the beta gal transcript.  Any experience or 
ideas on the subjects would be of help.
