Re: re-amplification of silver-stained DNA: I use the general idea described by Bassam Caetano-Annoles in BioTechniques (Recently, but I don't have a cittion). They just cut out the stained band and put it directly into the PCR reaction. That's about all. It worked for me (I got several bands of approximately the same size. These were cloned into pGEM-T).
