mRNA quantitation with the ABI 373A/GeneScan

I am looking for protocols and papers about the use of the Applied
Biosystems 373A DNA Sequencer/GeneScan to quantitate gene expression of
rare mRNAs. In particular, the conditions to synthesize cDNA and
amplify it by PCR, as well as the selection of a good internal standard
(housekeeping gene).
