dkim at triton.unm.edu (1 Dec. 1994) asked " Why can't electrophoresis electrodes be made of stainless steel?"
Hello:
For making electrodes stainless steel (like all other base metals) in not suited. Due to electro-chemical reaction these will dissolve during electrophoresis! Platinum is completely inert and therefor the best (although expensive) choise.
