Sequencing question*********:)

Dear molbionetters,
We have been  running 8% sequencing gels with a problem. Our current drops
dramatically from 55mAMPs to about 20 mAMPs in 1hr. This happens when
there are no or very few bubbles in the gel. What is the reason for this
dramatic drop? The Bromophenol Blue band is not straight, you kind of get
smily face pattern. Please enlighten us.
