Bionetters,

I'm finally getting back with the info on sex-specific probes for
birds. The probe we used on pinyon jays was acquired from Richard
Griffiths at Oxford, e-mail: Griffiths at molbio.ox.ac.uk. The procedure is
described in PNAS, V.90, #18, 8324-8326, 1993, and involved a simple
southern blot and probing. John Longmire and Los Alamos National Labs in New
Mexico also has a sex specific probe for birds and reports its use in AUK,
V.110, #2, 378-381, 1993. Hope this is useful.
