Triton in place of SDS

I recall awhile back that someone was talking about substituting Triton X-100
for SDS in PAGE. What's up with that? Is it for nondenaturing electrophoresis
of proteins? Does it preserve protein associations? I'm asking because these
are the things I'm kinda looking for right now. thanks.
