Gamma Irradiation

Hi Folks,

Back to my earlier post regarding gamma irradiation as a means of sterilizing
buffers.

Does anyone know or have a reference as to how much damage is done to DNA by
gamma irradiation? I know it doesn't affect proteins too much but what about
DNA ie if there is any DNA in the buffer would it be PCR'able after
irradiation or is the DNA totally killed? Obviously it will damage the DNA but
how much is the key?

Thanks to all who replied to the earlier post.

Duncan
