Hi,
I always sterilize PEG 8000 by autoclaving a 40% solution SEPARATELY
from the solution of ammonium acetate 7M (which is autoclaved also).
I never had problems of turning yellow, and when I mix the solutions
(v/v) and use them in my phage precipitations, the results are reproductible.
(over 10E14 pfu/ml).
