Hands up everyone who has tried but failed to get the
Bochner method to work. IMHO, what it does is force you
to screen so many colonies that eventually you get one that
has spontaneously lost the Tn10.
As P1 has trouble growing on a recA- host, it is likely
that the original lysate is poor. Try making the lysate
from a strain carrying recA+ on a plasmid.
