Using agarose (fancy or regular) for analyzing or purifying PCR-sized
(i.e., SI-PCR rather than LA-PCR, 20bp<frag<1000bp) fragments, rather than
using acrylamide gels to do so is like obstinate masochism: it works
(sort of), but it's just so pitiful.
