The purification a small DNAs from gels and solutions is quite
simple using GLASSFOG, a silica matrix, and a chaotropic salt but
sometimes it is difficult to remove the glassfines from the purified
product. The use of SpinFilters (which are available from a numver of
vendors, including BIO 101) gets rid of these fines, and makes working
with 10-200 b.p. sized single-stranded and double-stranded DNA even
easier. The yields are good and there are a number of companies with
kits on the market but the one from BIO 101 specifically addresses the
small sized DNA fragments.
