HepG2 cells and AFP prod'n

Does anyone have experience growing HepG2 hepatoma cells in serum free
medium in order to produce AFP?  We want to start doing this and have a
reference (Anal.Biochem. 169:306, 1988) but it would be very helpful to
discuss techniques with some one who has hands-on experience.
