Sequencing with Taq Polymerase

  Has anyone used unmodified Taq Polymerase for sequencing or cycle 
sequencing?  The Promega catalog suggests that Taq's 5' exonuclease 
activity makes it unsuitable for sequencing.  Does anyone know from 
personal experience that this is the case?
