Expression in lambda-gt11

Dear Netters,
  I've been having problems with expression of a 300bp cDNA fragment
cloned into lambda-gt11. We have to express it as a fusion protein for
purification purposes & have reasons to believe that the peptide is rather
unstable. 
 I'll be grateful for any ideas from people who've worked with similar
problems.
