In situ PCR references

Does anyone have some good basic references to in situ PCR?  I'm particularly
interested in good descriptions of the technique, equipment and materials used.  
I'm having a number of problems with my particular project, sample loss,
product recovery, etc. and would like to read about some of the many approaches
and applications so that I can get some ideas.
