RNA from archival/fixed tissue

Has anyone had any success with recovering RNA from histological specimens?
We would like to recover low copy number mRNA (for cytokines) from fixed 
tissue sections for RT-PCR, but have had no success. We have tried methods 
based on protracted incubation with Proteinase K, or microwaving with 'Gene 
Releaser' (Cambio), but have obtained either nothing or some very degraded RNA.
