Req: Definition of a promoter showing tissue specificity

could anyone post what the scientific community would require to show that
a promoter shows tissue specificity..
Hi Martin,
The most convincing would be to hook the promoter to LacZ and show the tissue specific expression
in transgenic animals or embryos.
Alternatively, you could transfect the reporter construct into cells of different tissue origin
and look for specific expression.
If the endogenous gene to which the promoter belongs is known, then one could show its tissue
specific expression by in situ hybridization,whole mount staining, northern, RNase protection or RT
PCR.
