best way to remove PCR primers

It is claimed that primers do not precipitate well when ethanol
precipitated from 2.5M ammonium acetate.  I use this method routinely
with satisfactory, but not perfect results:

Add 1/3 volume of 10M ammonium acetate, mix, then precipitate with 1.6
volumes of ethanol.  I found this in a Biotechniques article four or five
years ago.
