Nightmare of 3'-RACE

I am looking some methods to deal with long 3'-RACE. In my experiment, I want
to clone the gene which is supposed to be about 9kb 3'-end. We have known about
2kb sequence in 5'end. so, I will design primer in 5'known sequence and oligo
dT and adapter to amplify about 6-7kb fragment. As matter of fact, I have tried
several times and the results is smear no band showed around 7kb. Does anybody
have good suggestion. I will thank in advance.
