Artifacts in silver staining

Dear Friends:

In October Bruce Ella posted his problem of artifacts in silver 
staining.  He received a suggestion that the artifact might be SDS 
itself.  I have the same problem with the artifact band also appears at 
approx. 10 kD position.  Could someone kindly explain how SDS itself 
cause this artifact?
