Although I agree that the plates do brake more often then I would like, I have never had a clamp brake on me. One thing I observed was that is the C running buffer is not carefully prepared and pH, the apparatus overheats causing the plates to brake. Another thing is that if the clamps are too tight the wplates will brake more foften.
