IMPORTANT - SERVICE INTERRUPTION LAST WEEKEND

We are not quite sure yet what happened but it appears that a bug in
the e-mail server program, majordomo, may have accidentally deleted
the METHODS mailing list file at net.bio.net over the Thanksgiving
weekend.  This has not happened previously and no other mailing list
was affected.  The file has since been restored from backup tape and
recent subscriptions appended to the old file, so everybody should be
back on the list (except possibly for the person who succeeded in
crashing the server 8-).  This problem would NOT affect people who get
their e-mail from daresbury.ac.uk (dl.ac.uk), just the users at
net.bio.net.

If you want to recover any messages that you may have lost, you can
either use gopher to net.bio.net and look in the METHODS-AND-REAGENTS
folder at the "current" file or use Mosaic to URL
gopher://net.bio.net/ or, as in the good old days, just do anonymous
FTP to net.bio.net, cd to pub/BIOSCI/METHODS-AND-REAGENTS and "get
current".
