Plasmid copy number control

Does anyone have a slick way to control copy number of pBR/pUC
plasmids? 
I don't think I can use polA, because my cells are recA and I
understand 
recA polA mutants are not viable.

PolA doesn't really control replication, it just stops it. What
precisely
are you wanting to do, maybe I/others can make some suitable
suggestions but
it isn't clear what you are looking for.
