	We routinely filter our acrylamide solution (sans TEMED and APS) 
and this seems to work well. Another practice is to coat your plates with 
'RAIN AWAY', a water repellent from Canadian Tire. It seems to work like 
sigmacote but is much cheaper and gives smooth pouring gels. An unevenly 
poured gel may be part of the problem producing the black dots.
