DNA Fingerprinting from hair

We are trying DNA fingerprinting for the first time. One of the samples is
from hair. My student digested hairs using proteinase K and noted the hair
does not digest completely i.e. there is still hair left. Is this normal or
did this step not go to completion?

Thanks

The Today show did a story on people that complain. Don't you just hate
stories like that? They're such a waste of time. And besides that, they're
always....
