southern in roller bottle hybridizations

Could be due to dirty meshes...

I use polyester ones myself (silk-screening material from an art-shop) 
and never have the problem. I have performed this type of hybridisation 
with Southerns and library screening..always got a signal...

How do you determine whether it is imperfect??
