Sorry for the off-topic comment, but I just have to say that "Ferret Brain
cDNA Library Mystery" is the best subject line I've ever read.

Anyway, as said before, secondary structure can be a real problem.  If you
try to make a new library, you might consider a reverse transcriptase with
increased thermostability.  I hear that Tth polymerase has RT activity at
70C.  Good luck.
