Beta Gal Transfection Assay

Hi, Does anyone out there have an alternative to the commercially available
kits for luminescent assays of Beta Galactosidase (after transfection).  We
find that the standard Beta Gal assays are not sensitive enough.  The
commercially available ones work well but are very expensive.  Pl post your
