I've tried quenching fluorescence caused by formalin fixation in
paraffin embedded tissue with 0.14mg/ml crystal violet and also by a
longer treatment in 0.1M glycine. Neither method seems to decrease
background levels so that it doesn't mask/overshadow FITC or Texas
Red. I'm limited to using tissue fixed and processed in this manner.
