SSCP analysis using ABI373

We are trying to increase the sensitivity of PCR SSCP by incorporating
labelled nucleotides into the product and detecting the products using
the ABI373A automated DNA sequencer.

The problem sems to be that the 373A (which does not have a cooling
facility) gets too hot and denatures the SSCP secondary structures -
we only get one band for each of our products.

Has anyone experience of using the ABI373A for this purpose?

Thanks

Johnjoe
