Repli-plating bacteria

Another way to replica plate bugs is to buy round nitrocellulose filters the
right size to fit into your petri dishes, sterilize them in foil, then place on
your plate of bacteria to be replicated. Soon enough the filter will soak up
some moisture (and adhere to colonies). Carefully peel it off with dull
(plastic) forceps and place on a fresh dish. Remove and do another replica,
etc. Usually, at least 5 replicas can be made by this approach. Be sure to
lay the membrane down on the plate carefully to promote homogeneous contact
with the agar, avoid air bubbles, etc. Hope this helps. -Shaun
