losing overhangs over time?

Hi,
Invitrogen seem to insist that you need to buy a new TA cloning kit after
a month or so because the terminal T's fall off or degrade or something
and leave a blunt ended and inefficient vector.
Is this true? And if so does this phenomenon affect other gel purified
fragments? Will 4-base overhangs slowly degrade into blunts?
Anyone who has cloned using an old supply of cut vector can probably tell
me (I always make mine fresh).
TIA, Johnny D
