How 'bout a blocking agent, like tRNA, or BSA, or gelatin? These should
be compatible with PCR, if you're trying to do that in glass. Otherwise,
the traditional hybridization-type blocking agents (Denhardt's, nonfat
dry milk, Bailey's Irish Creme Liquor) would be worth a shot.
