In "Physical Map of the Genome of Rhodobacter capsulatus" 
JB,June 2,174(12):4070-4077, Mikle Fonstein, et al. describes
a device that made it possible to print 96 E.coli cultures
from each of nine microtiter plates on one 150-mm petri dish
in an ordered way.  They constructed the device themselves.
Are there any similar devices available commercially?
