Will this experiment work? (p53-related)

We are organizing a molecular biology laboratory course. The following 
experiment was suggested: site-specific mutagenesis of wild-type human
p53 gene to generate a dominant negative mutant, then transient cotrans-
fection of mouse cells with the mutant p53 and a ras oncogene and identi-
fication of foci. Is this realistic? Can you obtain foci after transient
transfection and if so, how long does it take?
