RNAse protection assay FIXED!

    Thanks to everyone who responded to my question about the random
degradation of (presumably) protected fragments.  The problem was that
the RNAse A was not being totally inactivated before the RNAs came in
contact with denaturing buffer.  Addition of a proteinase K step or
multiple phenol/CHCl3 extractions solved the problem.
