DNase treatment of RNA

Why not just autoclave the DNase buffer? I rarely use
DEPC-treated water and have found that autoclaving all solutions
is sufficient to remove RNases. We do a lot of in vitro
transcription and RNA protection assays and in the past 4 years I
have used DEPC once. Occassional problems we've had are seldom
found to be with the lab-prepared solutions.
