Sometimes Ni-IDA Sepharose (Pierce) has shown less non-specific
binding.
You may reduce general non-specific interaction with 0.05% Tween 20
but you may also find that the interaction is indeed specific.
To test, run a sample on Sepharose. If you see nothing the interaction
is SPECIFIC to Ni and you can not get rid of it. You may try to
change buffer conditions etc. but it is tricky.
