--On the topic of using other metals, does anyone know what the metal is in
the new Clonetech TALON resins? They won't tell.

Do you know what color the resins are?  Depending on the metal you use, the
columns come out different colors (i.e. nickel=light blue , cobalt=red, 
copper=blue-green, etc.).  I'm not going to claim familiarity with all the
color/metal ion combinations, but color is a good clue. -Hernan
