DNA on colony lift membranes

Hi,

Does anyone have any ideas on how to check if you have DNA on a colony lift 
membrane without staining the membrane with ethidium bromide or some other 
such nasty? We have recently changed membranes and are not getting the same 
numbers of probe positives in some of our samples as previously. We also need 
to probe these same membranes later, so nothing destructive. Any comments or 
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
