Staining membrane in Southern blotting

One way  is to simply put the membrane under long wave UV-light after
transfer. The method of course requires that you have stained your DNA
fragments with ethidium bromide. The method is relatively crude but it
nevertheless gives you a way to see whether the DNA transfer was
successfuk or not.
