In a recent article someone asked about attaching streptavidin to
plastic plates.  Passive binding of streptavidin gives inconsistent
results and low surface concentration.  Plates with streptavidin
covalently attached are available from Xenopore, Hawthorne, NJ (phone
201-423-2400, fax 201-423-2401).  They are available as standard
polystyrene plates or as thin wall polycarbonate plates.  These can be
used in a thermocycler for simultaneous amplification and capture with
biotinylated primers. The attached amplified DNA can easily be used as
a template for sequencing.
