I'm trying to resolve PCR products in the 200-400 bp range and I'm
seeing some horrendous edge effects, that is the lanes near the side of the
gel smear out. This effect happens regardless of the extent of smiling or the
voltage at which the gel is run. The use of TAE as opposed to TBE improves
the situation. I'm using 7% 19:1 acryl:bis gels and a V16 vertical gel
aparatus. Any ideas.
