5' RACE-Tail cDNA with dC, or dT?

Short and simple: The original 5' RACE technique tailed the first strand
cDNA with dATP using terminal transferase; however, other techniques employ
dCTP. Is one better than the other? If you've performed the technique,
please let me know what your preferences are. Also, do you typically use a
nested downstream primer approach or can I just use my degenerate oligo for
the original PCR in combination with a d(N)n-adaptor primer (whatever "N"
might be)?
