[Q] PCR gives extra band - heteroduplex formation?

Good comment.
We do quant. PCR just the same way and I do see heterodimers just between 
the larger (1149 bp) and the smaller (962 bp) band, so I presume the 
heterodimer runs according to its actual size, which should be around 
(1149+962)/2=1055 bp, just what I am getting.

I have no idea where the band larger than the large product in the 
original posting might come from.
