Seth:

I routinely use sodium azide in my primary and my blocking buffer, which I 
also use neat to dilute the secondary antibody and have no trouble with 
interference of ECL.   While azide may be able to inhibit HRP to some extent, 
by the time the blot is washed, there is little to no azide left on the blot 
and has no effect on the peroxidase reaction.
