Another suggestion,

SURE is resistant to Kanamycin and streptomycin, so it won't hurt to use these
along with the Amp. XL1-Blues are either Tetracycline or Kanamycin resistant,
depending on which strain you are using, and (check) I'm sure XL1s also carry
the RPS-L mutation making them streptomycin resistant. ie, if you have a
problem, use a sledge-hammer!

Point with XL1s, it's a good idea to use the Kan or Tet anyway, 'cos that
prevents loss of the F'; but beware, cells stored on Tet plates do not live
long.
