Capillary electrophoresis of PCR products

I'm currently using capillary electrophoresis coupled with 
laser-induced fluorescence to detect and possibly quantify PCR 
products. I've managed to detect products using a sieving buffer(TBE + 
HPMC) and with the dye thiazole orange.However I'd like to know if 
anyone has tried using fluorescein-labelled primers to detect and 
quantitate PCR products, as I'm considering using this as part of a 
competitive PCR procedure. Beckman have published an application 
information sheet (A-1774A) describing this and I'd to hear if anyone 
else has had any succes using this method.
