PCR specificity?

I always try to make pretty longish primers - 60 to 70 degrees annealing, 
and this will improve specificity even though the annealing is higher. 
Also, I've noticed a difference in polymerases: Thermus aquaticus is more 
specific than thermus thermophilus. Don't ask me why, I have no idea, it 
just is.
